New Graduate Nurse – Barnes-Jewish Hospital (2026 Graduates)

This position is specifically designed for student nurses graduating June – August 2026 with an ADN, BSN, or MSN, who are embarking on their first Registered Nurse (RN) role. Role Purpose

The Graduate Nurse delivers direct patient care activities, encompassing assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, all within the established guidelines of nursing care standards. This role is performed after completing a nursing program but prior to licensure. The Graduate Nurse will be required to obtain full RN licensure within 90 days of graduation from an accredited school of nursing to maintain employment within a Health Service Organization (HSO) in the state of Missouri.

Responsibilities

  • Educates patients and their families on managing illness or injury, including post-treatment home care needs and medication administration.
  • Utilizes critical thinking skills to assess and evaluate patients’ physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs.
  • Develops and implements individualized plans of care in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team, adhering to established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment.
  • Evaluates patient responses and modifies the plan of care accordingly throughout the patient’s stay.
  • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Engages in professional development opportunities.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.

  • Nursing Diploma/Associate’s – Nursing
