Video Editor Intern | Utah Jazz
The Tone:
This is a Part-time, Internship position with the Utah Jazz, an NBA franchise, and the Utah Mammoth, an NHL franchise, both part of the Smith Entertainment Group. The organization is seeking an aspiring video editor to contribute to its creative services post-production team. This role is crucial for crafting concise, visually appealing video and short-form content that tells compelling stories for sports franchises and other internal departments, bringing fresh ideas to the team’s creative voice. This role offers the opportunity to combine a love for sports with video production skills.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Content Creation: Edit a wide variety of videos for the Utah Jazz or Utah Mammoth teams, including hype videos, interviews, and short-form content, while assisting on other video projects as required.
• Event Recaps: Produce run-and-gun style event recaps, capturing the essence of various happenings for timely delivery.
• Footage Management: Sift, sort, and organize new footage efficiently to support junior and senior editing projects, ensuring content is readily accessible.
• Team Collaboration: Assist junior and senior editors, creators, and designers, contributing to a collaborative post-production environment.
• Production Support: Provide aid on-set productions as a production assistant, including tagging video and organizing new content after game nights and recent video shoots.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A four-year degree is preferred. This role is for individuals with 0-1 years of professional experience, suitable for an aspiring video editor.
• Experience: Minimum of 0-1 years of demonstrated professional experience working in a production environment; experience editing quick turnaround projects; flexibility in schedule to assist on productions, including weekends.
• Skills: Core video editing techniques, including transitions and clip layering; basic color correction for log footage; fundamental audio adjustments using tools like Essential Sounds in Premiere Pro; understanding of frame rates, codecs, and camera technical specifications; proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite applications such as Premiere Pro and Audition.
• Bonus: Experience with coloring and grading tools like Davinci Resolve; ability to mix sound and perform sound design; proficiency in motion graphics software such as Adobe After Effects, Blender, or C4D; interest in NBA and NHL sports; experience with solo run-and-gun operations; ability to prepare pre-production materials like mood boards and shot lists.
