Worship Director | SBC Executive Committee

The Tone:
This is a significant leadership role at SBC Executive Committee, an organization dedicated to fostering spiritual growth and community through its weekly worship services. The Worship Director is a pivotal position, directly shaping the spiritual atmosphere and congregational experience through music. This individual will be instrumental in creating an engaging and uplifting environment, ensuring that the musical elements powerfully support the overall mission of the services. The role requires a unique blend of musical talent, collaborative spirit, and a heart for service to enhance the collective worship journey for all attendees.

The TL;DR
• Team: Reports directly to the Lead Pastor; partners with the Personnel Committee, music team, and A/V team.
• Mission: Owns the leadership and direction of the musical components for all weekly worship services.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Direct Worship Services: Lead and coordinate the musical elements for all weekly worship services, including song selection, arrangement, and performance, to create an inspiring and cohesive worship experience for the congregation.
• Cultivate Musical Talent: Recruit, audition, schedule, train, and foster ongoing growth and development within the worship music team, empowering musicians and vocalists to contribute their best.
• Collaborate on Production: Partner closely with the A/V team to ensure seamless integration of sound, lighting, and visual elements with the musical components, optimizing the overall presentation of worship services.
• Uphold Pastoral Vision: Work under the direct supervision of the Lead Pastor, ensuring that all musical aspects and worship expressions are thoughtfully aligned with the pastoral vision, theological direction, and overall thematic goals for each service.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Director-level professional bringing a robust background in music and worship leadership, complemented by a proven understanding of effective team development and servant leadership principles within a faith-based context.
• Experience: Demonstrated, hands-on experience in effectively leading and managing the musical aspects of regular, weekly worship services, encompassing responsibilities from preparation to live execution.
• Skills: Exceptional Musical Proficiency: Proven ability as a gifted musician across relevant instruments or vocal styles required for leading worship. Servant Leadership: A commitment to leading with humility, empathy, and a focus on serving the needs of the team and congregation. Team Building: Strong capability in recruiting, motivating, and developing a cohesive and high-performing music team.
