Creative Director | Adrastea
The Tone:
This is a high-intensity volunteer leadership role at Adrastea, operating remotely. Adrastea is a rapidly expanding, youth-led nonprofit dedicated to closing the sex gap in aerospace. This Creative Director position is vital for transforming ambitious ideas, cutting-edge scientific research, and complex aerospace topics into compelling visual content. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with a growing team and distinguished professionals affiliated with institutions like Harvard, MIT, Oxford, NASA, and Johns Hopkins across various fields including aerospace, medicine, research, and policy.

• Mission: Own the visual identity and creative output to translate complex scientific information into accessible and engaging content, supporting the goal of closing the sex gap in aerospace.
• Tech Stack: Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, CapCut, or similar tools.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Creative Leadership: Lead Adrastea’s creative and visual direction, establishing a strong and consistent visual identity for the organization across all platforms.
• Asset Production: Design a range of essential visual assets, including graphics, infographics, presentations, and campaigns, tailored for various communication channels.
• Scientific Communication: Translate complex scientific topics and research findings into accessible, visually compelling content that educates and resonates with diverse audiences.
• Strategic Content Development: Work closely with the Marketing/Communications Strategy team to transform strategic campaigns and initiatives into impactful and effective creative content.
• Weekly Commitment: Commit approximately 5–10 hours per week to the role, with the understanding that hours may vary based on specific project needs and organizational priorities.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Preference for undergraduate-level applicants or above, though exceptional high school applicants with an outstanding portfolio and demonstrated experience in creative leadership or design roles may also be considered.
• Experience: A mandatory portfolio showcasing previous creative work is required, coupled with strong experience in graphic design, visual storytelling, and short-form video/content creation.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in graphic design, visual storytelling, and short-form video/content creation, utilizing tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, CapCut, or similar industry-standard software.
• Bonus: A strong preference for candidates with experience in or a keen interest in space-related projects, and a scientific or STEM background is also preferred. Additionally, a passion for building something from the ground up and contributing to a rapidly growing organization is highly valued.
