The Utah Jazz is a professional NBA team based in Salt Lake City, Utah, competing in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference. Originally the 18th franchise to enter the league in New Orleans in 1974, the team relocated to Salt Lake City in 1979 after just five seasons. Larry H. Miller became the sole owner in 1986, transforming the organization into one of the league’s more successful franchises. This success includes frequent post-season playoff appearances, notably consecutive berths from 1984 to 2004, and two NBA Finals appearances in 1997 and 1998.
