Training and Development Intern | Golden Aluminum

The Tone:
This is an internship at Golden Aluminum, located in Fort Lupton, CO. Golden Aluminum operates as a continuous casting aluminum rolling mill, established in 1984, dedicated to caring for its environment, people, and community. The company has been selected by the Department of Energy to receive up to $22.3 million in investment, supporting its Nexcast Mini Mill and other breakthrough projects aimed at a greener, decarbonized future for the aluminum industry. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in analyzing job roles, identifying essential skills and knowledge for production workers, and creating impactful training materials, playing a key part in supporting employee growth and operational excellence.

• Mission: To analyze job roles, identify essential skills for production workers, and create impactful training materials to support employee growth and operational excellence.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Job Analysis: Conduct job analyses across various departments to identify the tasks, knowledge, and skills required for production roles.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with department leads and employees, gathering insights through interviews, observations, participating in some tasks, and surveys.
• Material Development: Develop and organize training materials, including manuals, presentations, and e-learning content, based on job analysis findings.
• Program Implementation: Assist in implementing and evaluating training programs to ensure effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals, and support the creation of standardized onboarding processes.
• Project Ownership: Own 1-2 specific projects within a department, presenting programs and recommendations to leadership and the board of directors.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student or recent graduate pursuing or recently completed a degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Training and Development, Human Resources, or a related field.
• Experience: Previous coursework in talent development, psychology, talent management, adult education, or other similar topics.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect and interpret qualitative and quantitative data; excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Bonus: Experience with training software or tools; interest in manufacturing environments and employee development.
