The Tone:
This is a full-time role at McCarthy Building Companies, located in the USA. McCarthy builds and executes self-perform steel fabrication projects across the fabrication lifecycle. This role is crucial as the primary operational leader, ensuring all projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to McCarthy’s high-quality standards. The Sr. Manager will establish operational priorities and drive accountability across all functional areas to achieve business success.

• Mission: Serves as the primary operational leader responsible for successful execution across the entire steel fabrication lifecycle.
• Tech Stack: Tekla PowerFab, Tekla Structures, Procore, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, Microsoft Office

What You’ll Actually Do
• Business Leadership: Lead the day-to-day operations of the Self-Perform Steel Fabrication business, serving as the primary operational leader for active projects and executing the established business strategy.
• Operational Oversight: Provide leadership and oversight across estimating, detailing, procurement, production control, fabrication, logistics, and field operations to ensure successful project delivery.
• Performance Management: Ensure teams have the tools, training, staffing, and resources required for success, remove operational constraints, and monitor KPIs to lead recovery efforts when needed.
• Project & Stakeholder Management: Provide executive oversight of fabrication execution from project turnover through final delivery, coordinating with all external and internal project stakeholders to meet commitments.
• Team Development & Culture: Coach and mentor department leaders and project teams, develop future leaders through succession planning, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager. Bachelor’s degree preferred in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field.
• Experience: 8+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication, construction management, manufacturing, or operations leadership, with demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams. This includes experience managing project financials, schedules, and overall operational performance.
• Skills: Strong understanding of estimating, detailing, procurement, production control, fabrication, logistics, and field operations; excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills; working knowledge of AISC standards, structural steel fabrication processes, quality systems, and construction best practices.
• Bonus: Experience with Tekla PowerFab, Tekla Structures, Procore, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, Microsoft Office, or similar construction platforms.
