Shift Lead | Five Guys
The Tone:
This is a hands-on leadership role at Five Guys, operating within one of our restaurant environments. Five Guys is dedicated to providing quality food, consistent service, and an exceptional guest experience across all its locations. This role is vital for setting the standard on every shift, ensuring efficient daily operations, maintaining high service standards, and fostering a supportive and productive team atmosphere that consistently leaves every guest impressed.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Shift Leadership: Directly lead and oversee all shift operations, stepping in to manage the restaurant efficiently when direct management is not on site.
• Operational Support: Actively participate in all operational aspects, proficiently performing every restaurant position from cashier and grill to food prep, fries, and maintaining the dining room.
• Service Delivery: Consistently deliver fast and accurate service, ensuring every guest receives a high-quality product and a great overall experience.
• Team Coaching: Provide constructive coaching, continuous support, and positive motivation to all crew members, empowering them to perform at their best during their shifts.
• Restaurant Standards: Maintain the highest standards of restaurant cleanliness, safety protocols, and overall brand consistency, while meticulously managing critical shift tasks such as breaks, cash handling, and completing closing reports.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Demonstrated foundational experience within a restaurant, retail, or broader hospitality service environment.
• Experience: Possess 1–2 years of experience in a customer-facing service role, with prior leadership experience being a strong advantage for this position.
• Skills: Exhibit strong verbal communication, proficiency in basic mathematical calculations, comfort with utilizing point-of-sale (POS) systems, and the proven ability to lead by example and make effective decisions in a busy operational setting.
• Bonus: Possession of a valid food safety certification, such as ServSafe, is preferred.
