Intern Drop shipment | Metro AG
The Tone:
This is an Intern role at Metro AG, located in Germany (Nordrhein-Westfalen). Metro AG operates as a leading wholesale company, and this position plays a pivotal part in maintaining smooth order processing and delivery operations. The Intern Drop Shipment will directly contribute to customer satisfaction and the overall efficiency of the supply chain, ensuring that goods reach customers reliably.
The TL;DR
• Role: Intern
• Type: Part-time (20 h/week, up to 37.5 h/week during lecture free period possible)
• Location: In-person Germany(Nordrhein-Westfalen)
• Mission: Ensure smooth order processing and delivery operations for drop shipment.
• Tech Stack: Transport management system, Dynamics 365 or equivalent ERP systems, MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Pivot tables, Macros)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Order Processing: Receive and process customer orders, providing proactive communication regarding order updates, delays, or challenges.
• Logistics Coordination: Plan transportation and collaborate with carriers, customers, and suppliers to ensure On-time & In-full delivery.
• Customs Facilitation: Coordinate with external customs experts to facilitate efficient export documentation for international shipments.
• Service Level Improvement: Collaborate with other departments to monitor and improve supplier and carrier service levels.
• Performance Analytics: Design and analyze analytics of order processing metrics, transportation performance, and service level, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
The Must-Haves
• Background: University Degree in Business Administration, Economics, or Engineering with a focus on Supply Chain Management (SCM) or Logistics.
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a comparable position within the Wholesale, Retail, or FMCG industries, including first-hand working experience with Transport management systems and top-tier ERP systems (Dynamics 365 or equivalent).
• Skills: Advanced skills in MS Office programs, especially PowerPoint and Excel (Pivot tables; Macros). Fluent in English (vocal and written), strong communication skills, and the ability to cope with pressure and continuously prioritize.
• Bonus: An additional European language is an advantage.
