Rotational Accounting Intern – Summer 2028 – San Francisco | The Global Institute for Health and Human Rights

The Tone:
This is an internship at The Global Institute for Health and Human Rights, located in San Francisco. This dynamic rotational summer internship is structured to allow accounting students to build a foundational understanding in both Audit and Tax. The role provides hands-on experience, working with professionals to deliver business solutions to clients, with the goal of preparing interns for confident transition into full-time roles within a top-ranked accounting environment. What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Engagements: Work on audit engagements and develop an understanding of core audit processes.
• Tax Preparation: Prepare various income tax returns including individual, fiduciary, partnership, not-for-profit, and corporate.
• Client Interaction: Attend department meetings and client engagement planning sessions to understand business needs.
• Project Assistance: Assist with business risk consulting and compliance projects.
• Financial Processing: Process business transactions into accounting records and appropriate financial statements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrolled in a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s program with a concentration in accounting. Final graduation date with academic requirements for CPA licensure eligibility between December 2028 and August 2029.
• Experience: At least one accounting course completed to receive an offer, and on track to complete a minimum of three accounting courses prior to the 2028 internship program.
• Skills: Demonstrates clear, professional written and oral communication, understanding of audit processes, tax preparation, business risk, and financial transaction processing.
• Bonus: Minimum GPA of 3.2, with “B” grades or above in accounting courses and a higher major GPA preferred.
