The Opportunity
This Production Specialist position is based at Abbott’s Altavista, VA location within the Nutrition division. The Nutrition business develops science-based products for all ages, from infant formula to adult nutrition. Leading brands include Similac®, PediaSure®, Pedialyte®, Ensure®, and Glucerna®.
The Altavista plant is one of Abbott’s largest nutrition manufacturing facilities, featuring advanced technology for efficient production. Employees here are part of a close-knit team making a global difference by nourishing millions of families.
What You’ll Work On:
- Safely operate complex and standard high-speed production equipment for nutrition products.
- Maintain inventory of packaging materials.
- Complete workorder documentation accurately.
- Perform quality checks to ensure product standards.
- Clean equipment and maintain a hygienic production environment.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues as they arise.
You will be accountable for meeting all compliance standards, including FDA, OSHA, and Abbott policies and procedures.
Shift Details:
This is a night shift position with hours from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM on a rotating basis. An example shift pattern is:
- Week One: Monday – On / Tuesday – On / Wednesday – Off / Thursday – Off / Friday – On / Saturday – On / Sunday – On
- Week Two: Monday – Off / Tuesday – Off / Wednesday – On / Thursday – On / Friday – Off / Saturday – Off / Sunday – Off
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 6 months of prior manufacturing experience.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Analytical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to multitask effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals.
- Experience with tools and equipment related to the position, or experience as a Sr. Production Equipment Operator.
Compensation:
The base pay for this position ranges from $19.05 – $38.15 per hour. Please note that in specific locations, the pay range may vary from the posted range.
