The Tone:
This is an in-person role at SpaceX, working within the Starship program at facilities like Starbase, TX. SpaceX was founded on the belief that humanity’s future involves exploring the stars and ultimately enabling human life on Mars, actively developing the necessary technologies. This Production Scheduler role is fundamental to achieving that vision by ensuring the efficient manufacturing of Starship components, directly supporting the ambitious launch cadence and development goals crucial for deep space exploration.

• Mission: This person drives efficient Starship production by developing rate-based schedules, identifying part shortages, and managing constraints across builds.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Production Scheduling & Constraint Management: Develop rate-based schedules for Starship hardware across 6+ missions, assisting in production scheduling for specific work centers, identifying part shortages, and defining and tracking constraints while projecting long-term departmental rate needs.
• Resource Optimization & Allocation: Utilize established schedules to generate stakeholder buy-in on scenarios that optimize hardware allocation between new and refurbished units, considering customer needs, mission manifests, and quality requirements.
• Daily & Weekly Goal Execution: Collaborate with production teams to set, track, and execute daily and weekly production goals for work centers, ensuring these align with overall rate targets despite personnel and equipment constraints.
• Supplier Relationship & Shared Resource Management: Build strong relationships with internal suppliers to establish accurate communication for hardware needs and completion dates, and manage the prioritization of hardware at shared resources, negotiating with other departments for optimal business outcomes.
• Shortage Resolution & Automation: Monitor MRP systems and leverage SQL Queries to proactively identify hardware shortages for upcoming builds, leading efforts to pull necessary hardware into production areas and implementing automation for scheduling processes to reduce manual operations.
• Risk Mitigation & Continuous Improvement: Drive down schedule risk through work-center level capacity analysis and by leading initiatives to mitigate identified model and communication gaps. Lead root-cause analysis for build issues, address assembly-level & integration misalignment, and support overall improvement opportunities in yield, quality, safety, cost, and team efficiency.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years of manufacturing scheduling, planning or operations; OR 3+ years of professional experience in manufacturing scheduling, planning or operations.
• Experience: Professional experience using ERP/MRP systems in a production environment.
• Skills: Remarkable problem-solving skills with a bias for speed and accuracy; self-motivated, quick learner, and able to prioritize efforts; ability to build strong internal and external supplier/customer relationships; technical knowledge in coding and computer applications (e.g., MS Office Suite, VBA, Smartsheet, SQL, Confluence, JIRA, Power BI).
• Bonus: Strong track record of implementing continuous improvement efforts (ideally using lean principles, six sigma, or Kaizen concepts); experience leading multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
