Job Description: Field & Laboratory Materials Testing Technician
This role at Terracon offers an entry-level opportunity for individuals interested in the construction industry. As a Field & Laboratory Materials Testing Technician, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the quality and compliance of materials used in various construction projects.
General Responsibilities:
- Perform essential compliance testing on construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel, both in the field and within a laboratory setting.
- Utilize company-provided trucks to travel to project sites and transport samples to the laboratory. A good driving record is essential.
- Operate field laptops for immediate tabulation, preparation, and submission of digital reports to the Terracon Project Manager.
- Maintain and clean all assigned equipment, company vehicles, and work areas.
- Strictly adhere to all safety standards and company protocols.
- Engage in daily communication with project managers, engineering technicians, and contractor representatives.
Essential Roles And Responsibilities (Under Close Supervision):
- Learn and assist with various tasks and perform fundamental testing and observation duties.
- Provide accurate and clear documentation of all findings and test results.
- Communicate information effectively to the Project Manager, ensuring the accuracy of data before submittal.
- Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Project Manager.
- Be responsible for the maintenance of assigned equipment.
- Consistently follow all safety rules, practices, and requirements for every project.
- Perform pre-task planning before commencing any work and report any safety concerns or issues to management immediately.
- Uphold quality standards across all assigned projects.
Training & Development:
Terracon provides comprehensive in-house training for certification. This training is led by experienced project managers and supplemented by online resources, ensuring you gain the necessary skills and certifications to excel in this role.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history is mandatory for operating company vehicles.
- Skills: Strong communication skills are vital for daily interactions with various stakeholders.
