The Tone:
This is a full-time summer internship position at Kingsford Charcoal, an affiliate of The Clorox Company, located in Burnside, KY. This role is designed for an industrial maintenance student to make a positive impact by supporting critical plant processes and collaborating with the maintenance department. The intern will gain hands-on experience in a real-world manufacturing environment, contributing to the efficient operation of a well-known brand.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Briquetting Process Support: Contribute to the efficient operation of the briquetting line, assisting with daily tasks and troubleshooting to ensure optimal production output.
• Retort Process Assistance: Provide support for the retort operations, including monitoring equipment, assisting with routine checks, and learning about the charcoal production cycle.
• Packaging Line Contribution: Work alongside teams involved in packaging processes, helping to maintain equipment functionality and support the flow of finished goods.
• Maintenance Department Collaboration: Engage directly with the maintenance department, learning from experienced technicians and assisting with various projects related to industrial equipment upkeep and repair.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an entry-level internship opportunity specifically for students. Candidates must be actively enrolled in an Industrial Maintenance Program at an accredited institution and have successfully completed at least one full year of their studies, demonstrating foundational knowledge in the field. Additionally, candidates are required to be either a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident for consideration, as the company does not provide sponsorship for this position.
• Experience: A strong academic record is essential, evidenced by a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, specifically within their overall studies or their Engineering Department curriculum. This indicates a solid grasp of industrial maintenance principles and a commitment to academic excellence relevant to the role.
• Skills: Candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with team members and various departments within the plant. Strong self-motivation is crucial for independent work, coupled with the ability to function collaboratively and effectively within a broader team environment. Demonstrating strong ethical standards is paramount, alongside the adaptability to readily adjust to evolving business needs and project requirements throughout the internship period.
