As a Graduate Hemodialysis Nurse, you will function as a vital part of a dedicated healthcare team, providing essential and safe dialysis therapy to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. This role is crucial for ensuring continuous, high-quality care while you work diligently towards obtaining your professional nursing license.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Patient Assessment & Access: Perform comprehensive vascular access evaluations prior to treatment and execute vascular access cannulation. You will be responsible for reporting any difficulties during cannulation or unusual findings directly to the nurse supervisor.
• Treatment Initiation & Monitoring: Initiate dialysis treatments precisely according to prescribed orders, including setting appropriate blood flow (QB) and dialysate flow (QD). Throughout the treatment, you will actively monitor patients’ responses to therapy and evaluate intradialytic problems, providing interventions as directed by physician orders or the nurse supervisor.
• Treatment Discontinuation: Obtain vital signs before reinfusion and perform all necessary functions for the safe discontinuation of treatment. This includes evaluating patients prior to termination of venous access, obtaining hemostasis, and applying appropriate dressings, followed by a final patient evaluation prior to discharge.
• Documentation & Reporting: Meticulously document all information related to patient treatment within the patient health record, ensuring accuracy and completeness. You will promptly report any significant changes in patient condition or status directly to the nurse supervisor.
• Lab & Equipment Management: Obtain all prescribed laboratory testing, preparing specimens for collection and ensuring proper labeling and storage according to required laboratory specifications. Additionally, you will conduct all necessary tasks for preparing for dialysis treatment, including machine setup, cleaning, and disinfection of equipment and surrounding areas.

• Background: Early career professional who has graduated from an accredited nursing program within the past 12 months.
• Experience: Required to obtain a nursing license within 90 days of employment.
• Skills: Vascular access evaluation and cannulation, patient monitoring, accurate documentation, dialysis machine setup and maintenance, specimen collection and preparation.
