Graduate Assistant – Athletics Equipment | Grand Canyon University
The Tone:
This is a part-time Graduate Assistant role located in Phoenix, AZ at Grand Canyon University. GCU is a regionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University, recognized as one of Arizona’s leading institutions of higher learning. This role is crucial within the Athletic Department, supporting student-athletes in achieving excellence by ensuring seamless equipment operations and fostering an environment for personal growth.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Administrative Support: Perform various administrative tasks including preparing PowerPoint presentations, conducting data entry and analysis, ordering equipment and apparel, and managing inventory and stocking.
• Platform Management: Manage and maintain the current software platform utilized for ordering, inventory, and distribution of athletic equipment.
• Project Coordination: Facilitate department or sport-related projects from inception to completion and plan and organize activities for assigned functions.
• Operational Oversight: Oversee daily operations, coordinate program activities, and ensure efficient execution of duties such as laundry operations and product fulfillment.
• Liaison and Collaboration: Act as a key liaison to internal contacts and customers, coordinating activities and serving as the equipment room representative for scheduled home competitions.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Admission to a graduate degree-seeking program at GCU (certificate-only programs do not satisfy this requirement).
• Experience: A minimum GPA of 3.0 (for both admission and ongoing employment) and enrollment as a “regular” degree-seeking student for at least 6 graduate-level units.
• Skills: Ability to perform administrative tasks (PowerPoint, data entry, ordering, inventory), manage software platforms, and demonstrate strong planning, organizing, and collaboration skills.
