Event Associate | The Tech Interactive

The Tone:
This is an on-call, non-exempt hourly role at The Tech Interactive, located on-site in San Jose, CA. The Tech Interactive inspires innovation in everyone by providing hands-on activities, experimental labs, and design challenge experiences for families and young people. This role directly supports the execution of various events, ensuring a fulfilling and rewarding experience for the community, especially those historically marginalized and underserved.

The TL;DR

• Pay: $23 hourly
• Team: Reports to the Special Events Senior Manager
• Mission: Supports the execution of a variety of events, ensuring smooth operations and a positive guest experience for all attendees.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, internet

What You’ll Actually Do
• Event Logistics: Coordinate the setup and strike requirements for events with the Event Supervisor.
• Client Support: Serve as the on-site contact for clients and maintain hands-on event support throughout the event duration.
• Guest Engagement: Facilitate exhibit experiences and hands-on activities with guests of varying ages using the Design Challenge Learning style.
• Visitor Services: Handle ticket sales, membership sales, and store sales when applicable to the event.
• IMAX Operations: Assist with IMAX Theater duties, including concession stand, console operation, ushering, and cleaning.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Ability to work in a public setting, interact with guests, and follow safety protocols.
• Experience: One or more years of retail, sales, museum, or customer service experience.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, professional phone etiquette, public speaking ability, capacity to learn new procedures and systems, and computer literacy.
• Bonus: Outgoing, positive attitude and enthusiasm for working with the public and children.
