Fall 2026 Employment Services Intern – UNPAID | International Rescue Committee

The Tone:
This is an unpaid, hybrid internship at the International Rescue Committee, located in Atlanta, GA. The IRC is one of the world’s largest international humanitarian non-governmental organizations, founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, dedicated to helping people devastated by conflict and disaster to survive, reclaim control of their future, and strengthen their communities in over 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities. This role matters significantly as employment is a critical element in helping eligible refugee clients in the Greater Atlanta area become economically self-sufficient, thereby restoring their safety, dignity, and hope.

The TL;DR

• Team: Employment Services team, reports to the Employment Services Supervisor
• Mission: Support the IRC in Atlanta’s Employment Services team by assisting eligible refugee clients in finding jobs and preparing them to enter the workforce through direct client support and essential clerical work, thereby fostering economic self-sufficiency.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office programs, relevant databases, internet research

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Preparation: Conduct job readiness counseling and training for clients, assisting them with filling out online and paper job applications.
• Logistical Support: Assist in coordinating client transportation to appointments and accompany clients to job interviews and orientations.
• Resource Navigation: Research local resources to help clients access essential living needs such as housing, food, and medical care.
• Administrative Assistance: Enter case notes and other data into relevant databases, and create and maintain client case files for clients.
• Outreach and Intake: Attend New Arrival Orientation and conduct initial client intake processes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Strong interest in working with an international population.
• Experience: Demonstrated proficiency with employment-related activities and proven ability to work with consideration and respect for cross-cultural differences.
• Skills: Excellent communication and organization skills, ability to work independently, and computer proficiency including Microsoft Office programs and internet research.
• Bonus: Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle.
