Fundraising Non-Profit Development Coordinator & HR Administrator | IBSS
The Tone:
This is a hybrid internship position at IBSS, located in Silver Spring, MD, with a schedule of 4 days on-site and 1 day remote. IBSS is a woman-owned small business that provides transformational consulting services in cybersecurity, IT, environmental science, and professional management to federal, civilian, and commercial sectors. This role is crucial for providing administrative and operational support to both the Human Resources functions at IBSS and the development initiatives for Guideship, a nonprofit dedicated to creating career pathways for underserved communities through workforce development programs. This position helps advance the organization’s mission by supporting workforce operations and increasing community engagement through fundraising and donor relations.

• Mission: To provide essential administrative and operational support for Human Resources functions at IBSS and fundraising, donor stewardship, and community engagement for Guideship.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Google Workspace, Salesforce (or similar CRM), ADP (or similar HRIS like UNANET, BambooHR)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Human Resources Support: Administer day-to-day HR operations, policies, and administrative functions, including preparing onboarding documentation and maintaining confidential employee files.
• Employee Engagement: Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, facilitate new hire orientation, and coordinate training, recognition, and engagement activities.
• Fundraising Development: Plan and execute annual fundraising campaigns, research prospective donors, corporate sponsors, and grant opportunities for Guideship.
• Donor Stewardship: Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners through communications, acknowledgment letters, and accurate database management.
• Event Coordination: Coordinate fundraising events, managing venue selection, vendor communication, volunteer scheduling, registration, and overall event logistics.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is an entry-level internship position.
• Experience: Approximately one (1) year of experience in Human Resources, nonprofit administration, fundraising, or a related administrative role, with demonstrated ability to coordinate meetings, events, or administrative projects.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, excellent organizational and time management skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, ability to maintain confidentiality, and strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Bonus: Experience supporting nonprofit fundraising or donor engagement, familiarity with donor management or HRIS systems, knowledge of grant research and proposal development, or willingness to obtain SHRM-CP, SHRM Essentials, or PHR certification.
