Early Career Environmental Engineer/Scientist/Geologist | GSI Environmental Inc. (GSI)

The Tone:
This is an early career position at GSI Environmental Inc., located in Olympia, Washington, with potential for hybrid work. This role is crucial for supporting project technical leads in preparing essential reports, designing assessment programs, and managing environmental data, directly contributing to site cleanup and regulatory compliance projects.

• Pay: $60000–$85000 yearly
• Team: Assists Project Technical Leads and collaborates with a cross-disciplinary team including project managers, technical experts, colleagues, and subcontractors.
• Mission: Supports assessment, investigation, and compliance efforts for site cleanup, regulatory compliance, litigation, and research projects.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reports: Assist Project Technical Leads in preparing high-quality technical presentations, reports, letters, plans, and proposals for various projects.
• Design: Support the design of assessment programs and remedial investigations for site cleanup, regulatory compliance, litigation support, and research initiatives.
• Data Analysis: Assist in the management, analysis, and interpretation of environmental data using statistical and data visualization tools to inform project decisions.
• Fieldwork: Perform fieldwork, when required, to support environmental assessment, remediation, and restoration projects, including collecting various environmental samples.
• Quality Control: Perform data entry and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) for data tables, maps, reports, and other project work products.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental sciences, suitable for an Early Career professional.
• Experience: Up to 2 years of relevant professional work experience is preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, ability and willingness to travel, and a valid driver’s license with a clear driving record.
• Bonus: A Master’s degree, programming skills in R and/or Python, an interest in leveraging automated workflows and data science tools, experience using mapping software such as ESRI ArcGIS, and a 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to become certified).
