Director of Golf Operations | The University of Georgia
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at The University of Georgia, located in Athens, GA. Chartered by the state in 1785, UGA is the birthplace of public higher education in America and its flagship university, currently ranked among the top 20 public universities. This position is crucial for the efficient administrative, logistical, and daily operations of the Division I intercollegiate men’s and women’s golf programs. The Director of Golf Operations will support the coaching staff and enhance the student-athlete experience within a high-level athletic environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations & Administration: Manage the day-to-day internal and external operations and logistical support for the men’s and women’s golf programs, including budget adherence, communication systems, and serving as a liaison to various university departments.
• Recruiting Operations: Participate in on-campus recruiting activities, focusing on hosting and relationship building with prospects and their guests, while also assisting in the management and oversight of the recruiting database.
• Personal Development: Coordinate and execute a personal development and career enhancement program for student-athletes, including generating content, scheduling events, coordinating community service, and organizing speaking engagements.
• Program Administration: Assist coaching staff with overall program administration, including part-time payroll processing, budget development and management, and coordinating alumni relations outreach and programming.
• Strategic Support: Contribute to the overall success of the intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Head Coaches.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent, with a focus on administrative and operational management within an athletic context.
• Experience: Demonstrated knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), SEC, UGA, and UGAAA rules and regulations. Experience managing budgets and overseeing logistical planning for events and travel.
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, management and organizational skills, and proficiency with computers, especially using Excel. The ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, academic counselors, parents, and coaches, and to work independently on multiple assignments.
