Business Development Trainee | National Interstate Insurance Company
The Tone:
This is a hybrid trainee position based out of the Richfield, Ohio office. National Interstate, a member of Great American Insurance Group, is a leading commercial transportation insurer, specializing in risk financing solutions and innovative alternative risk transfer programs. What You’ll Actually Do
• Market Research: Develop skill and knowledge in conducting market research and networking to identify industry trends, customer needs, and the competitive landscape.
• Marketing Campaigns: Learn to create and execute marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital, print, and social media.
• Customer Engagement: Participate in engaging with existing and prospective new customers to build relationships that contribute to the division’s targeted profit goals.
• Content Creation: Assist in creating compelling marketing content, including blog posts, social media updates, newsletters, and promotional materials.
• Performance Analysis: Learn to monitor and analyze the performance of marketing activities and campaigns, tracking statistics on prospect lists, hit ratios, business retention, and new business production.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience. This is an entry-level position that involves participation in a formal training program typically lasting 6 months to a year.
• Experience: Performs work under close supervision and technical direction. Possesses a developing understanding of marketing principles and practices. Works on assignments of low technical complexity.
• Skills: Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills. Possesses foundational analytical skills and attention to detail. Gaining proficiency in marketing software and tools.
• Bonus: Position may require day and overnight travel (10-20%) to visit agents, brokers, or clients. May learn to prospect and solicit new agents or clients, typically with no or limited underwriting authority.
