Background Screening Researcher

Job Summary:

We are actively seeking a highly organized and meticulously detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Background Screening Researcher. This critical role involves the comprehensive management of background report orders, the execution of diverse background checks, diligent verification of candidate information, and the ultimate assurance of accuracy and compliance in all final reports. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional problem-solving capabilities, professional communication skills, and demonstrated experience in data entry and various computer applications. A foundational understanding of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is considered a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently manage incoming background report orders and strategically prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Rigorously process and review background search results, encompassing criminal records, driver histories, substance abuse screenings, and detailed verifications.
  • Conduct thorough criminal background checks utilizing a variety of systems, public access interfaces, and specialized vendor resources.
  • Proactively contact previous employers, personal and professional references, and educational institutions to meticulously verify information provided by candidates.
  • Accurately perform data entry to document all search results and findings.
  • Conduct additional non-criminal and non-verification background screening searches as necessitated by specific cases or client requirements.
  • Meticulously review all components of background reports for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to compliance standards before finalizing and releasing reports.
  • Assist in the generation and ongoing management of both client and company background report metrics.
  • Provide comprehensive support for various administrative tasks, including client and vendor communications, onboarding new customers, and implementing system or client change requests.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Computer Applications: Demonstrated ability to navigate multiple computer applications with speed and accuracy.
  • Persistence and Probing Skills: Strong persistence coupled with effective probing skills to gather necessary information.
  • Documentation Accuracy: Ability to quickly and accurately document information.
  • Judgment and Reporting: Excellent judgment and the ability to report accurate findings consistently.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Strong capabilities for problem-solving and analytical thinking to resolve complex issues effectively.
  • Organizational Skills: Superior organizational skills with the capacity to multitask efficiently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Typing Speed: A typing speed of 40 words per minute or more.
  • Grammar and Spelling: Solid grammar and spelling accuracy in all written communications.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Data Collection: Proficiency in data collection and various computer applications relevant to the role.
  • Data Entry Experience: Previous experience in data entry is essential.
  • Communication Skills: Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Active Listening: Exceptional active listening skills with the ability to accurately capture and document information during interactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry Experience: Direct experience within the background screening industry.
  • FCRA Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) as it specifically applies to employment screening practices.
  • PBSA Certification: PBSA (Professional Background Screening Association) Basic or Advanced Certification.
