The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at Grant Thornton (US), located in Chicago, IL, with hybrid work expectations. Grant Thornton is a multinational professional services firm that delivers audit and assurance, tax, and advisory services through a platform spanning the U.S., Ireland, and other territories, with 12,000 professionals. This role in the Audit Methodology & Standards Group (AMSG) is crucial for supporting the firm’s Audit & Assurance practice by developing and maintaining the methodologies, templates, and guidance that ensure quality engagements and improve team efficiencies.

• Mission: Assist in developing, maintaining, and enhancing audit methodology, standards, templates, and guidance to support quality and efficiency within the Audit & Assurance practice.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Management: Work on a variety of audit methodology and standards projects to support the Audit & Assurance practice.
• Content Creation: Assist with updating existing content and creating new content for audit methodology and standards.
• System Testing: Test updates made to the audit platform and other related tools to ensure functionality and compliance.
• Standards Mapping: Assist with mapping new auditing and assurance standards to establish firm-wide methodology.
• Communication Drafting: Draft audit-related articles for inclusion in weekly communications to engagement teams.
• Team Collaboration: Collaboratively work with members of the AMSG, including managers and partners, on all phases of projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
• Experience: Minimum overall GPA of 3.0/4.0; willingness and ability to work additional hours as needed; ability to travel to various client sites as required.
• Skills: Excellent analytical, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills; strong technical aptitude; demonstrated project management skills, including planning and time management; ability to work efficiently in a complex team environment.
