Finance Co-op -Intern | Gorton’s

The Tone:
This is an in-person internship at Gorton’s, located in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Gorton’s is a company with over 175 years of history, trusted by America for making quality seafood accessible to everyone. This role is crucial for an intern to contribute to either the Customer Finance or Financial Accounting areas, gaining foundational experience while developing an understanding of various finance activities within the company. You will work within a collaborative environment that values integrity, curiosity, and agility in spreading the goodness of the sea.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person Gloucester, MA
• Pay: $20–$25 hourly
• Team: You will work within either the Customer Finance or Financial Accounting area, collaborating with cross-functional teams across the company.
• Mission: This person will contribute to Gorton’s financial operations by assisting in key accounting or customer finance functions, while gaining a broad understanding of the company’s financial landscape.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Finance Support: Contribute to the oversight of financial transactions between Gorton’s and its large retail grocery chain customers.
• Financial Accounting Assistance: Aid in activities related to financial reporting, audit preparation, cash management, or treasury operations.
• Operational Accounting: Support accounting functions including cost accounting, inventory audit, and accounts payable processes.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as Marketing, Sales, Operations, Information Technology, and Logistics.
• Finance Development: Develop a comprehensive understanding of the diverse finance activities and operations within Gorton’s.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree Candidate majoring in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field. This is an entry-level position for students.
• Experience: A demonstrated career interest in Corporate Finance and/or Accounting, along with the ability to work independently.
• Skills: Outstanding attention to accuracy and detail, solid written and verbal communication skills, initiative as a self-starter, and the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of people.
• Bonus: Preferred students who are completing their Junior year.
