Job Description:
HealthFitness is offering Summer Recreation Internships at their Walton Corporate facility within the Walton Family Whole Health & Fitness Center in Bentonville, AR. This internship is designed for students to fulfill their University internship requirements. HealthFitness aims to provide a unique and rewarding experience, allowing interns to gain focused experience in their chosen career field.
As a Summer Recreation Intern, you will gain exposure and/or experience in the following areas:
• Assist in the promotion & timely running of recreation events including tournaments, mixers, leagues, and play events.
• Job shadow while an employee teaches individual/group sports lessons to children and adults while providing a fun, engaging playing environment that addresses the skill level of the students.
• Assist members/guests at the recreation desk with enrollment, purchases, reservations, and equipment checkout using our software management system.
• Assist with racquet restringing, regripping, minor court/equipment maintenance.
• Assist with preparation and breakdown of recreation equipment for events.
• Ensure students/players adhere to safety guidelines and demonstrate good sportsmanship.
• Assist recreation staff with general day-to-day duties of the office.
• Attend all regularly scheduled office hours and meetings.
• Other duties as needed/assigned.
Qualifications:
• Junior or Senior level Bachelor’s or Master’s level student working towards a degree in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Recreation, or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Current Adult/Infant/Child CPR, AED and First Aid certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross required, American Safety & Health Institute or National Safety Counsel, must be OSHA compliant training with in-person component (if not current will be required by start date of internship).
• Communication skills to instruct and interact effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
• Internship must be for school credit.
• Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test.
