Job Description:

This is a non-paid, temporary internship opportunity within the City and County Of Broomfield Department of Human Services’ Child Adult and Family Services Division. The department is seeking empathetic and self-motivated graduate students enrolled in a Masters of Social Work program.

Key aspects of the internship:

Flexible Scheduling: The internship start date, schedule, and number of hours per week are flexible, accommodating both departmental needs and school requirements.

Shadowing and Observation: Interns will shadow caseworkers to gain firsthand experience in various aspects of social work. This includes:

• Observing caseworkers as they assess the functioning of clients in their environments.
• Identifying client strengths and needs.
• Developing case plans.
• Determining client capacity for life choice decisions.
• Coordinating service delivery from community agencies.
• Documenting cases and preparing reports.
• Observing case staffing meetings.

Supervised Client Interaction: Interns will have opportunities to engage in supervised client interactions, providing valuable direct service experience.

Colorado Child Welfare Training Academy: Interns will have the opportunity to complete the Colorado Child Welfare Training Academy. Completion will allow the intern to become a certified caseworker.

Modified Caseload: Once certified, interns may be able to carry a modified caseload, allowing them to independently complete assessments regarding abuse and/or neglect allegations.
