Summer 2027 Intern, Property Tax | Ryan
The Tone:
This is a paid summer internship at Ryan, located in Fairfax, VA. Ryan is an award-winning tax services firm that helps Fortune 500 and 1,000 clients identify tax savings opportunities across state, local, federal, and international taxation. This role offers hands-on training, mentorship, and networking for aspiring tax professionals to become seasoned experts in the industry, providing exceptional client service.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Service: Deliver exceptional client service by identifying tax savings opportunities for multi-state companies.
• Tax Controversies: Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax controversies, including preparing for discussions with auditors, representing clients at hearings and appeal meetings, and preparing protests.
• Research & Drafting: Research state and local tax questions or issues and draft technical memoranda.
• Inquiries & Requests: Respond to client inquiries and requests received from tax authorities.
• Data Analysis: Review documentation, research issues, and work with raw data to complete detailed calculations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or Economics. Anticipated graduation date within one year of the internship. Minimum Overall and Major GPA of 2.8.
• Experience: Minimum of 6–12 Accounting hours, depending on the practice.
• Skills: Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills. Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity. Capability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation/research.
