The Tone:
This is a hybrid Corporate Vice President role at New York Life Insurance Company, requiring 3 days per week within the Technology, Data, AI, and Ventures (TDAV) organization. TDAV is dedicated to deploying the power of technology, data, and AI to accelerate competitive advantage for New York Life’s businesses, building solutions for policy owners, agents, advisors, and employees. This position is central to the company’s strategic transformations, focusing on fundamentally reimagining critical enterprise capabilities through advanced technology, data, analytics, automation, and AI. The role is vital for turning complex business opportunities into clear solution strategies and delivering measurable outcomes for a world-class financial services company.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Business Discovery & Problem Framing: Lead comprehensive discovery across complex enterprise domains, working directly with senior executives and stakeholders to structure ambiguous business problems and develop evidence-based hypotheses, focusing on decisions, users, and desired business outcomes.
• Future-State & Agentic Reimagination: Define innovative future-state business workflows that materially improve performance, identifying where AI, agentic capabilities, analytics, and modern technology can fundamentally transform processes beyond mere digitization.
• Product & Solution Strategy Development: Translate deep business discovery into clear product and solution strategies, capability definitions, and prioritized roadmaps, making deliberate tradeoffs and ensuring MVPs test meaningful hypotheses.
• Discovery to Delivery Continuity: Partner closely with integrated delivery teams, product owners, and architects to maintain the integrity of the original business outcome and recommended solutions from initial strategy through engineering and deployment.
• Executive Leadership & Capability Building: Cultivate trusted relationships with senior business and technology executives, facilitate complex discussions to drive clear choices, and help mature Business Discovery & Solution Strategy as an enduring leadership capability across strategic transformations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Executive-level experience (15+ years) in business or technology strategy, product strategy, digital transformation, management consulting, or related disciplines, demonstrating significant leadership responsibility in complex enterprise environments.
• Experience: Proven ability to frame ambiguous business problems, translate them into clear strategies, and lead cross-functional initiatives involving business, technology, engineering, data, architecture, operations, and risk stakeholders. Also, strong experience working directly with and influencing senior business and technology executives.
• Skills: Product Mindset (focus on users, problems, outcomes), Strategic Problem Framing (structures ambiguity, develops hypotheses), AI & Agentic Transformation (understands AI’s potential to redefine workflows), Executive Influence (challenges stakeholders, synthesizes perspectives), Business & Technology Fluency (connects business strategy to technical execution).
• Bonus: Experience with performance management, management reporting, executive decision support, FP&A, analytics, or enterprise performance capabilities, especially designing experiences that integrate data, analytics, AI, and workflow. Also, experience leading AI-enabled or agentic business transformation in highly regulated enterprises.
