Associate Accountant (Intern to FT Conversion) | Marathon Petroleum Corporation

This is a full-time Associate Accountant role, converting from an internship, located in Texas City, Texas. • Team: Reports to an Operations or Corporate Accounting Supervisor
• Mission: To ensure accurate financial data processing, analysis, and reporting, supporting management with insights and contributing to financial statement integrity.
• Tech Stack: Excel, SAP, Right Angle, Power Plan, Blackline

What You’ll Actually Do
• Participate in monthly financial closeout activities.
• Identify, analyze, verify, interpret, and accurately process financial and operating transactions and data in a timely manner.
• Maintain company records, accounts, and ledgers pertaining to various activities and prepare related schedules, statements, and reports.
• Utilize effective communication skills to distribute and receive information to other accounting and operational department personnel, various levels of management, and external entities.
• Actively review job tasks and recommend process improvements or automation opportunities to enhance accounting controls and efficiency.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Entry-Level career experience.
• Experience: 0-3 years of Accounting related experience. Prior Accounting college internship is preferred.
• Skills: Motivated individual with strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills; proficient in Excel, including creating/modifying spreadsheets, data cleansing, pivot tables & formulas; ability to meet deadlines and work in a team setting.
• Bonus: Experience with SAP.
