Senior Forward Deployed Engineer – Data Scientist | Microsoft

What You’ll Actually Do
• Drive Outcomes: Shape opportunities and translate customer business needs into clear, actionable technical approaches.
• Deliver Solutions: Build and ship production-grade data science solutions directly in customer environments with robust engineering execution and end-to-end ownership.
• Accelerate Value: Operate effectively in ambiguous situations to deliver iterative, high-impact solutions that accelerate time to value.
• Influence Stakeholders: Engage and influence senior stakeholders to build trust, align priorities, and guide technical and business decision-making.
• Tailor Solutions: Apply specific industry and customer context to tailor data science solutions, moving beyond generic approaches.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Senior-level data science professional with a Doctorate, Master’s, or Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years (with Doctorate), 7 years (with Master’s), or 10 years (with Bachelor’s) in data science, including managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques, and reporting results. Requires 5+ years of customer-facing, project-delivery, professional services, and/or consulting experience, with demonstrated experience partnering directly with customers or internal stakeholders to deliver solutions end-to-end.
• Skills: Expertise in managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques, and reporting results. Proven ability in robust engineering execution, end-to-end ownership of solutions, and operating effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include higher years of data science experience (8+ years with Doctorate, 10+ years with Master’s, 12+ years with Bachelor’s) and comfort with up to 25% travel.
