Global Trade Compliance Senior Manager | Gilead Sciences

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Gilead Sciences, located remotely in the USA or site-based in Foster City, CA or Parsippany, NJ. • Team: Global Trade Compliance, manages a team
• Mission: Oversee daily US/Canada Trade Compliance operations and provide guidance for global IOR/EOR presence to ensure regulatory adherence and efficient supply chain.
• Tech Stack: SAP GTS

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations Oversight: Oversee and lead the daily operations of all export and import compliance tasks and projects within the US/Canada.
• Broker Management: Manage Customs brokers to facilitate and support the efficient and timely customs clearance process for goods.
• Policy Development: Develop, implement, and maintain programs, policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with new regulations from CBP, CBSA, and relevant agencies.
• Classification & Origin: Manage and assign Harmonized Tariff (HTS) classifications, Export Control Classifications (ECCN), FDA import product codes, Schedule B, and country of origin information.
• Audit & Training: Implement audit programs for import entry filings and EEI export filings, and develop and implement Global Trade Compliance training for cross-functional teams.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Senior Manager level in International Trade Compliance/Supply Chain Management, with expert knowledge in Importing, Exporting, EAR Classification, OFAC, BIS, Harmonized Tariff Classification, Customs Valuation, Denied Party Screening, Country of Origin determination, and CTPAT.
• Experience: Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related experience (or equivalent education/experience combination), including experience working with PGAs like the FDA in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
• Skills: Strong technical knowledge of US/Canada Customs laws and regulations; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to influence internal and external partners without direct authority.
• Bonus: US Customs Broker License; experience implementing, managing, and collaborating on trade compliance programs; Project Management experience.
