Management Trainee | Southeastern Freight Lines
The Tone:
This is an entry-level training position at Southeastern Freight Lines, specifically designed as an intensive 16-week Operations Management Trainee Program. The program aims to thoroughly prepare individuals for their initial leadership and supervisory roles within the company’s operations. Southeastern Freight Lines builds a comprehensive transportation network, and this role is vital for cultivating future leaders. These leaders will drive efficient cross-dock operations, foster effective leadership communication, and build strong relationships, all essential for the smooth functioning of the company’s freight delivery processes.
The TL;DR

• Location: In-person, relocation required after training program
• Pay: $50000–$60000 yearly
• Team: Reports to a mentor
• Mission: Learn basic transportation industry principles, efficient cross-dock operations, effective leadership communication, and relationship building skills.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn: Acquire the basic principles of the transportation industry and efficient cross-dock operations.
• Develop: Participate in an intensive 16-week training program designed to prepare you for a leadership/supervisory role.
• Collaborate: Interface daily with appropriate Support Center and Service Center associates to complete various aspects of the training program.
• Observe Sales: Accompany and observe an Account Manager during customer sales calls to understand client interactions.
• Observe Operations: Accompany drivers on local delivery routes on occasion to gain an understanding of the freight delivery process from the ground level.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level position requiring a Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation or Logistics.
• Experience: Alternatively, candidates with at least two years of related work experience are considered. An acceptable driving history that aligns with company standards is also essential. The role demands flexibility with a readiness to relocate as needed upon completion of the training program for your first leadership role.
• Skills: Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective listening abilities. Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times. Demonstrate basic computer skills and a very strong work ethic.
