Accounting Intern | STCU

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship / Early Career
• Type: Part-time (20-40 hours per week)
• Location: In-person, Liberty Lake, WA

• Team: Works closely with the accounting team
• Mission: To support daily financial operations and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of the accounting department through hands-on experience and process contributions.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office applications

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounts Processing: Process accounts payable transactions, assist with employee expense reimbursements, and process corporate credit cards.
• Financial Reconciliation: Perform daily reconciliations of key general ledger accounts.
• Transaction Oversight: Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner, investigating discrepancies and supporting resolution efforts.
• Record Management: Assist with data entry, document organization, and maintain financial records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Operational Collaboration: Collaborate with team members across departments, respond to basic inquiries, and contribute to process improvement initiatives where appropriate.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a local college for the entirety of the internship, of at least junior standing (Masters students accepted), and pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Possess a basic understanding of accounting principles including debits/credits, general ledger, and reconciliations.
• Experience: This is a 3+ month internship opportunity.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data entry and analysis, ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
