The Tone:

This position is vital for maintaining high standards of patient safety by ensuring all surgical instruments and medical supplies are meticulously decontaminated, sterilized, and distributed. The work directly supports clinical departments and patient care by providing essential, sterile equipment and supplies.

• Mission: Owns the decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and supplies to ensure patient safety and support clinical departments.
• Tech Stack: Steam autoclaving, low temp sterilizing, machine washing, sonic cleaner

What You’ll Actually Do
• Instrument Processing: Perform comprehensive processing of sterile instruments and supplies, including cleaning, decontamination, proper wrapping, and sterilization using aseptic technique.
• Decontamination: Disinfect, decontaminate, and clean instruments either manually or by machine, disassembling and inspecting them for debris and bioburden before washing.
• Assembly and Packaging: Inspect all instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and defects, then assemble and package instrument trays using proper wrapping techniques, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Sterilization Operation: Prepare loads for autoclaves, writing cards, labeling, and loading/unloading carts and racks, ensuring all sterilization parameters have been met.
• Area Maintenance: Perform necessary cleaning and disinfecting of counters, shelves, cupboards, and other required areas to maintain a sterile processing environment.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. High school level of knowledge preferred, with an understanding of decontamination and sterilization processes for medical instruments.
• Experience: Three to six months of previous work experience in Central Service is preferred.
• Skills: Aseptic technique, instrument inspection and assembly, proper wrapping techniques, adherence to manufacturer Instructions For Use (IFU) and personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols, accurate record-keeping, and supply rotation.
• Bonus: Punctual and regular attendance, moderate initiative for routine problem solving, high level of visual acuity for inspecting small items, and finger dexterity for handling instruments.
