The Tone:
This is a part-time role based in Nexstar Media Group’s new New York studios. NewsNation operates a national news cable network, reaching 75 million television households across the United States. This position is vital for the smooth and accurate execution of video elements during live and pre-recorded national newscasts, ensuring the network’s high production quality.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Production: Prepare and switch video elements during live and pre-recorded programming, reacting swiftly and accurately to director’s commands.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure all broadcast content output consistently meets established quality and production standards.
• Technical Design: Build intricate switcher effects and create Ross templates and shots for various broadcasts.
• Creative Input: Contribute creative ideas and solutions that enhance the final broadcast product.
• Team Development: Communicate and document effectively with team members, and potentially train others or create training documentation.
The Must-Haves
• Background: An experienced professional with a strong foundation in live television broadcast operations.
• Experience: Five plus (5+) years of experience specifically in professional live television broadcast operations.
• Skills: Proficient in operating broadcast equipment including switchers, routing, CGs, video playback, and remote camera operation; capable of multitasking and solving problems effectively in a demanding live news environment; possesses working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; membership in IBEW is required for this part-time position.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field; additional engineering or operating experience in areas such as robotic cameras, graphics, audio, or transmission; flexibility to work any shift across the broadcast schedule.
