Corrections Facility Maintenance Manager 1 – SCI Smithfield | Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

What You’ll Actually Do
• Daily Operations: Plan and coordinate routine operations for maintenance and trades tasks.
• Staff Development: Provide direction, training, and review of staff and inmate worker performance.
• Record Keeping: Maintain essential reports, inventories, and personnel records in line with facility standards.
• Safety Assurance: Inspect work areas and equipment to meet safety rules and respond to emergencies.
• Asset Control: Monitor tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure security and proper use.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Managerial level with core domain knowledge in the construction, maintenance, or repair of buildings, or the operation, maintenance, and repair of utility services equipment.
• Experience:
* Minimum of two years of experience as a Building Maintenance Foreman, Utility Plant Supervisor, or Corrections Tradesman Instructor, with a specialty in one of Carpentry, Electrical, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, Machinist, Welding, Painting, Automotive, Electronics, or Masonry; OR
* Six years of experience in the construction, maintenance, or repair of buildings, or the operation, maintenance, and repair of utility services equipment, including two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity; OR
* An equivalent combination of experience and training.
* Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• Skills: Expertise in maintenance operations planning and coordination, strong leadership for staff and inmate worker guidance and performance review, diligent record keeping and inventory management for compliance, thorough safety enforcement including inspections and emergency response, and robust tool and equipment control to ensure security and proper use.
