Marketing Intern | Grove United

The Tone:
This is an unpaid internship at Grove United, located in Richmond, VA. Grove United is the competitive club operated by the Grove Foundation, slated to compete in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) for the 2026 season. This role is crucial for building and maintaining the club’s public image and digital footprint, directly supporting our digital presence, content creation, and fan engagement efforts as we prepare for and embark on our inaugural season. It offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a growing sports organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Social Media Management: Assist in actively managing Grove United’s digital presence across primary social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, and TikTok, ensuring consistent brand voice and timely engagement.
• Visual Content Creation: Capture high-quality photos and videos at various club events such as matches, training sessions, and community outreach activities to create compelling visual narratives.
• Digital Content Design & Publishing: Design and publish engaging graphics, dynamic matchday content, highlight reels, and feature stories about players, aligning with the club’s voice and brand guidelines.
• Campaign Support & Scheduling: Help write, schedule, and execute social media posts, stories, and reels, while supporting the execution of broader marketing campaigns for ticket sales, merchandise, and special club events.
• Performance Tracking & Strategy Contribution: Track and analyze social media post engagement and follower growth to inform future strategies, and actively contribute creative ideas during weekly planning sessions for new content and fan engagement initiatives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This role is for a high school or college student currently studying marketing, communications, digital media, journalism, or a closely related field. A strong passion for soccer and a natural aptitude for creative storytelling are essential for success in this position.
• Experience: Candidates must possess a strong understanding of current social media platforms and emerging trends, along with comfort and basic proficiency in using a phone or camera to capture various media content effectively.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong communication skills, excellent writing abilities for crafting engaging social media copy, and robust organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and content schedules.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include basic skills in design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms. The ideal candidate will also have the willingness and flexibility to work some evenings and weekends, particularly during the active season, to capture critical club events.
