The Tone:
This is an early career position for a Graduate Nurse at McLeod Health, a locally owned and managed not-for-profit healthcare organization with seven hospitals and numerous physician practices across an 18-county service area. This pivotal role involves providing direct patient care, maintaining the highest professional standards, and strictly adhering to established protocols and patient safety initiatives. What You’ll Actually Do
• Provide compassionate patient and family care: Maintain a professional image and foster excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in alignment with service excellence standards. This includes conducting hourly rounds and creating an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion, and respect.
• Assess and plan individualized nursing care: Systematically evaluate patient needs based on collected history, observation, physical examination, and diagnostic data. Subsequently, plan holistic, age-specific nursing care tailored to meet the unique needs of each patient.
• Execute comprehensive nursing interventions and medical plans: Deliver appropriate nursing interventions consistently with the established Plan of Care and standards of practice, while seamlessly integrating the physician’s prescribed medical plans and adhering to policies for medication administration and blood product usage.
• Uphold patient safety and adhere to critical protocols: Implement patient safety initiatives such as proper identification, effective communication, and infection control, including donning/doffing precautions. Manage emergency situations like fire safety, evacuations, hazardous materials, and perform Code Management procedures.
• Manage clinical documentation and utilize technological resources: Efficiently utilize the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for Computer Provider Order Entry (CPOE), acknowledging new orders, verifying results, and completing patient admissions, discharges, and transfers. This also includes completing procedural paperwork and providing patient education using available resources.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduate from an accredited registered nursing program, functioning under the direct supervision of a currently licensed Registered Nurse.
• Experience: Must possess a temporary RN license and a valid BLS certification; candidates who have failed the license examination are not eligible.
• Skills: Patient assessment and individualized care planning; medication administration, reconciliation, and blood product administration; EMR navigation, order management, and documentation; emergency code management and rapid response protocols; infection control, patient privacy, and safety initiatives.
