Mental Health Security Guard – Part Time | SBHG

The TL;DR
• Role: Part Time
• Type: Saturday & Sunday: 7 AM – 7:30 PM
• Location: Long Beach, CA (On-site)
• Pay: $17–$18.50 hourly
• Team: Part of the Long Beach – Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center team.
• Mission: Maintain a safe environment for all clients, visitors, staff, and physicians within the urgent care center.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Safety Management: Ensure a secure and safe environment for all clients, visitors, staff, and physicians within the facility.
• Client Engagement: Interact directly and indirectly with clients, modeling appropriate behaviors and continuously monitoring their daily activities to facilitate quality care.
• Security Screening & Monitoring: Screen all incoming clients and visitors for contraband, accurately inventory client property, and monitor surveillance equipment.
• Access Control: Manage facility access, direct incoming clients and visitors, and conduct regular physical security checks of the center grounds.
• Emergency Response: Act as a primary responder to all fires and emergencies within the center, ensuring the safety of everyone present.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, or an AA degree in a related mental health field. This role requires foundational knowledge or experience in settings focused on safety and security.
• Experience: Two years of experience in a relevant field working with severely emotionally disturbed children and/or adults in an inpatient or outpatient setting, hospital setting, or any environment where safety and security were the primary focus. Alternatively, one year of relevant experience is required for those with an AA degree in a related mental health field.
• Skills: Hold a valid CA driver’s license with a driving record that meets company policy, maintain a valid CPR/BLS certification, and possess a valid Security Guard Registration with California BSIS or commit to registering as a Security Guard within 90 days of employment.
