Junior Designer – Structural Engineering | SOM

What You’ll Actually Do
• Engineering Solutions: Assist in developing and preparing solutions for various general and engineering problems.
• Design Coordination: Check and coordinate specific details and dimensions of structural elements under supervision.
• Structural Analysis: Perform fundamental structural analysis and design tasks as directed by a supervisor.
• Documentation Support: Aid in the preparation of comprehensive design and construction documents.
• Conformance Review: Review shop drawings and product submittals to ensure general conformance with structural engineering specifications.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Recent completion of a B.S. in Civil Engineering or B.Eng, focusing on structural engineering principles.
• Experience: Limited experience in structural analysis, drafting, and design development.
• Skills:
* General knowledge of structural engineering principles, including materials, detailing, construction techniques, and relevant codes.
* Exhibits initiative, strong problem-solving capabilities, and a high attention to precision and accuracy in assigned tasks.
* Effectively communicates internally through timely and appropriate written, oral, and visual means.
* Possesses basic proficiency in computational and Finite Element Method (FEM) tools for daily project design applications.
* Strong collaborative ability, contributing positively to team culture and common goals.
• Bonus: Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
