2027 Engineering G. Future, Monroe, Mi | Gerdau North America
The Tone:
This is an early career leadership development program at Gerdau North America, located primarily in Monroe, MI. Gerdau is a major steel manufacturing company that operates in seven countries and employs over 30,000 individuals, focusing on long and special steel products for various industries. This role is a critical part of the G.Future program, designed to invest in entry-level talent and develop the company’s future managerial and technical leaders. Participants will undergo an intensive 12-month program to gain the skills and experience needed to drive the company forward.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Problem Solving: Solve large- and small-scale problems, including creating mechanical components/assembly drawings, proposing business methods to optimize product output, and redirecting process prioritization to improve current production standards.
• Strategic Leadership: Work as a leader managing the strategic implementation for overall business goals within Gerdau North America.
• Mentorship Engagement: Participate in a unique Mentorship Program, integrating with the company, recognizing Gerdau’s values and business culture, and streamlining training with technical knowledge and business vision from an experienced professional.
• Business Acumen: Visit customers and suppliers to gain in-depth knowledge of the Gerdau business from beginning to end.
• Industry Immersion: Gain a holistic view and acumen of the industry by working with each level of Gerdau North America and traveling to various destinations throughout the US and Canada.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, Material Sciences/Metallurgy, or another applicable degree.
• Experience: A maximum of 3 years full-time work experience, or expected to receive your degree by Summer 2024. Preference for a degree-related internship experience.
• Skills: Record of high academic achievement (Minimum GPA 2.5, preferred GPA 3.0 or above), high learning agility, and willingness to adapt and develop continuously. Well-rounded applicants with leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular activities.
• Bonus: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future sponsorship for employment. Ability to travel to various locations within the United States and Canada during the length of the program.
