As a Security Officer – Entry Level in Indianapolis, IN, you will play a crucial role in serving and safeguarding clients within various industries, including government facilities. This specific position is for a Screener at a government location, where you will serve as a welcoming first point of contact and support essential access control functions.

Your duties will also include monitoring activity, documenting incidents, communicating clearly with staff and visitors, and responding promptly to security-related concerns. What You’ll Do

As a Security Officer – Entry Level (Screener), your key responsibilities will include:

  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to visitors and staff by diligently following site-specific government facility access procedures, security-related protocols, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Screening: Screen employees, visitors, and deliveries at designated checkpoints utilizing walkthrough detectors, handheld wands, and/or X-ray equipment. You will refer any prohibited items or concerns to site leadership as per post orders.
  • Access Control: Verify identification, manage sign-in and badge processes, control access through doors and turnstiles, and meticulously maintain accurate logs and required documentation.
  • Incident Response: Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalation techniques, thorough reporting, and effective coordination with on-site personnel and/or public partners.
  • Patrols: Conduct regular and random patrols of interior areas, entrances, and the perimeter as assigned, observing for irregular activity, potential hazards, and/or policy violations. You will document all findings according to reporting guidelines.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this vital role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles (21+ years of age for armed roles, though this specific entry-level role is typically unarmed).
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only (this is not explicitly a driving position).
