About the Surgical Unit (SE5 – New Tower)

Our Surgical Unit, located in the New Tower, offers a modern and patient-centered environment with all private rooms. As part of this team, you will care for a diverse patient population undergoing various surgical procedures, including:

  • General Surgery/GYN/Oncology
  • Bariatric
  • Colorectal
  • Urology
  • Gynecology
  • Plastics

Role Definition: Level I Registered Nurse (RN)

The Level I RN position is designed for new Associate Degree (AD) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) graduates who are completing their Nursing Practice Orientation Program, with 6 months or less of clinical experience post-licensure. Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Level I nurse is accountable for:

  • Providing direct care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process.
  • Supporting peers in the organized delivery of patient care services.
  • Prioritizing patient safety, team collaboration, and effective communication.
  • Contributing to unit activities that aim to enhance patient care outcomes.

Upon completion of the six-month evaluation, if the Level I nurse and Nurse Manager determine that performance expectations have been met at the end of the probationary period, the nurse will be advanced to a Level II RN.

Pay Range

PAY RANGE: $38-41

*The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Job Requirements

  • Education: BS in Nursing preferred.
  • Licensure: Licensed by New York State to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Certification: Current CPR certification (American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare providers).
