Job Title: Marketing Intern

The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) is an MLS soccer club dedicated to building a world-class soccer experience that reflects the diversity of Los Angeles. With an ownership group comprised of local leaders and innovators across entertainment, sports, technology, and media, LAFC is committed to delivering an unrivaled fan experience. The club has invested in state-of-the-art facilities, including the 22,000-seat BMO Stadium and a top-flight training center on the campus of Cal-State Los Angeles.

Position Summary:

The LAFC Internship Program offers a unique opportunity for students to apply their academic knowledge in the dynamic business environment of professional sports and live entertainment. This program is designed to provide comprehensive mentorship, allowing interns to shadow key industry leaders, ideate, and execute upon their learning goals. Participants will gain valuable hands-on experience and culminate their internship with a final capstone project, which will be presented to a panel at the program’s conclusion.

Program Details:

  • Duration: 8-week hybrid summer internship program
  • Dates: June 16th to August 11th
  • Commitment: Part-time, 30 hours/week
  • Compensation: $19/hour
  • Work Model: Hybrid (minimum of 1-2 in-office days per week, subject to supervisor’s discretion)

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be eligible to receive college credit for the internship.
  • Applicants (including international students) must possess work authorization that does not require sponsorship by LAFC for a visa.

Key Responsibilities & Learning Goals (Marketing Intern):

As a Marketing Intern, you will be deeply integrated into the daily operations of a professional sports marketing department, gaining a 360-degree view of brand management. This role provides tangible experience across various marketing facets:

  • Cross-Functional Strategy: Support the development and execution of marketing campaigns across diverse platforms, including social media, digital channels, retail/merchandise, and community initiatives.
  • Operational Excellence: Assist in creating and implementing team-wide processes to enhance project workflows and departmental communication efficiency.
  • Market Research & Innovation: Conduct competitive analysis and research emerging trends, particularly within influencer marketing and fan engagement, to inform and shape future LAFC campaigns.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Analyze and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to help the team evaluate the effectiveness of marketing efforts and partner collaborations.
  • Strategic Goal Setting: Collaborate on developing departmental goals that align with broader club priorities and contribute to long-term brand growth.
  • Executive Reporting: Assist in designing high-level templates and reporting documents to effectively communicate marketing achievements and insights to senior leadership.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize work effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict levels of confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including knowledge of Google Docs and various social media platforms.
