Fall 2026 Intern | Genocide Watch

The Tone:
This is an unpaid, virtual internship or volunteer opportunity at Genocide Watch, a pioneering organization recognized as the world’s first anti-genocide NGO and the founder and Chair of the Alliance Against Genocide. Genocide Watch is dedicated to preventing and stopping genocide through rigorous research, public education, and strategic advocacy initiatives globally. This role offers students and volunteers a significant chance to contribute directly to critical anti-genocide efforts by serving on specialized teams and regional task forces, thereby making a tangible impact on the organization’s vital mission and operations.

• Team: Virtual teams (Research, Podcast, Communications, Alliance, Mapping, Legal) and regional Advocacy Task Forces (ATFs).
• Mission: Contribute to Genocide Watch’s mission of preventing and stopping genocide by supporting research, communication, advocacy, and operational tasks.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Contribute to Specialized Teams: Actively contribute to the work of a chosen virtual team, such as the Research, Podcast, Communications, Alliance, Mapping, or Legal Team, performing tasks aligned with their specific objectives.
• Support Regional Advocacy: Provide direct support to regional Advocacy Task Forces (ATFs) by assisting with various initiatives and projects aimed at preventing genocide in specific areas.
• Complete Foundational Training: Undertake and complete the full Genocide Watch training program during the initial week to gain a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s mission and operational methods.
• Engage in Virtual Collaboration: Participate in scheduled weekly virtual meetings with assigned Teams and Task Forces, along with a mandatory weekly all-staff meeting every Friday at 12:00 PM noon EST.
• Maintain Weekly Commitment: Devote 15 to 20 hours per week to assigned work during the initial period, with student interns dedicating the number of hours required for credit from their academic institutions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Currently enrolled in an academic program or possessing a strong volunteer interest in anti-genocide work and international affairs.
• Experience: No specific prior professional experience is required; academic engagement or volunteer history is beneficial.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong written communication and analytical abilities, evidenced by a writing sample; capacity for independent work within a virtual team environment; proficiency in at least one foreign language (as indicated on resume).
