Virtual Learning Coach | Texas Sports Academy
The Tone:
This is an entry-level, remote Virtual Learning Coach position at Texas Sports Academy. The company operates as a K-12 school exclusively for serious student-athletes, providing both elite academic instruction and high-level athletic development. Students utilize a unique 2-Hour Learning model, enabling them to cover twice the material in a fraction of the time, thereby freeing their afternoons for intensive training with former pro and D1 athletes. This role is crucial for supporting students during their academic blocks, ensuring they remain engaged and focused on coursework through live video interaction and energetic academic launches, directly contributing to their ability to excel in both academics and sports.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead Academic Sessions: Host short, fun, live activities over webcam to open academic sessions, setting an energetic tone and getting students engaged before they begin their coursework. Then, lead the academic blocks by being present on video, ready to maintain focus and guide students through their learning.
• Build Connections: Develop genuine relationships with each student, understanding their individual interests, motivations, and potential barriers, using this insight to maintain their daily engagement and progress.
• Drive Motivation: Keep momentum high throughout the academic block, celebrating student progress, upholding academic standards, and actively assisting students in persevering through challenging parts of their work.
• Monitor Progress: Continuously track what each student is working on, the completion rates of their tasks, and any points where they might be stuck, identifying and flagging patterns to the team for further support.
• Provide Team Updates: Share concise daily summaries of how sessions unfolded, highlighting students who may require additional assistance, and reporting on strategies or approaches that proved effective.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level. No specific teaching background, degree, or years of classroom experience is required, but a natural ability to connect well with kids is essential.
• Experience: No specific years required. Must demonstrate the ability to host fun, engaging academic launches over webcam and motivate groups of young people.
• Skills: High energy and comfort on camera for extended periods, ability to maintain academic standards effectively without creating conflict, consistent reliability in attendance and preparation, and a dedicated remote setup including a quiet space, working laptop or desktop, decent webcam, and stable internet.
• Bonus: Experience working with student-athletes (e.g., coaching, training, mentoring, tutoring), any background in tutoring or providing academic support, comfort quickly learning and adapting to new technology, and a personal repertoire of go-to virtual games or icebreakers.
