What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn: Understand various insurance coverages, contracts, company philosophy, and procedures to make informed underwriting decisions.
• Interpret: Read and interpret complex documents such as policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements to grasp their meaning and proper application.
• Analyze: Evaluate the loss experience, financial conditions, and physical characteristics of risks to inform underwriting judgments.
• Communicate: Effectively interact with independent agents and other associates through clear verbal and written communication.
• Participate: Actively engage in and successfully complete the comprehensive Company underwriter training program.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or direct equivalent experience with property/casualty underwriting; early career level.
• Experience: Demonstrated equivalent experience in property/casualty underwriting if not holding a bachelor’s degree.
• Skills: Ability to organize data, multi-task, and make decisions independently; above average communication skills (written and verbal); ability to write reports and compose correspondence; ability to resolve complex issues.
