Accounting Intern – Treasury | Herc Rentals

The intern will play a vital role in assisting with critical projects within the accounting close and reporting cycle, contributing to essential financial processes and system implementations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Learning: Learn about the company’s comprehensive accounting cycle, including the processes for balance sheet account reconciliations, preparation of journal entries, implementation of internal controls, and execution of financial analysis.
• Reporting Support: Prepare various internal reports by gathering and meticulously analyzing information from the general ledger system and other relevant internal systems.
• Data Analysis: Analyze complex financial information and data sets, specifically by developing and utilizing spreadsheet reports, and rigorously verifying the accuracy of all compiled information.
• General Ledger Maintenance: Prepare accurate general ledger entries through consistent maintenance of financial records and the thorough reconciliation of accounts to ensure financial accuracy.
• Compliance and Research: Understand and maintain adherence to Sarbanes Oxley internal control compliance standards, comprehend essential financial reporting requirements, and answer accounting and financial questions by effectively researching and interpreting data.
• Project Participation: Participate in assigned project work, which may include initiatives related to process refinement, internal control documentation, and system implementations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This role requires candidates to be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a finance-related field, specifically Finance, Accounting, or Economics. It is positioned as an entry-level opportunity within the accounting and finance department.
• Experience: Candidates should possess experience utilizing Microsoft Excel, demonstrating proficiency in spreadsheet creation, data manipulation, and analysis, as well as general familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for collaborating with various teams and clearly articulating financial information. Possessing strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills is crucial for navigating and resolving financial process challenges. Candidates must exhibit a high attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling sensitive financial data. An expressed interest in corporate banking and both domestic and international financial systems will be beneficial for understanding the broader treasury function.
• Bonus: Seniors or students nearing graduation are preferred, indicating a readiness to apply recently acquired academic knowledge in a practical business environment.
