Job Description: Systems Engineering Intern (Candidate Pool)

This posting is for a general internship opportunity at MITRE and is not an application for a specific position. Job Responsibilities

As a Systems Engineering Intern, you will join a dynamic team with the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge and gain hands-on experience. The areas of focus may include one or more of the following:
Digital and Model-Based Engineering
Mission and Systems of Systems Engineering
AI-Enabled Systems Engineering
Agile Systems Engineering
Systems Security Engineering
Mechanical Engineering (specifically Structural Analysis, Thermal Dynamics)
Aerospace Engineering

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following fundamental requirements:
• Must be a full-time student currently enrolled in an accredited degree-seeking program.
• The degree program must be in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Must continue to be enrolled for the semester immediately following the internship period.
• Possess foundational knowledge in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or physics methodologies, frameworks, tools, and/or programming languages.
• Must demonstrate sustained excellence in academic performance.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidates may also possess the following advantageous qualifications:
Experience applying academic learning in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or physics to an internship, research, or lab setting.
Proficiency in using systems engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or physics methodologies, frameworks, tools, and/or programming languages.
• Proven ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated interest in serving the public, evidenced through previous work experience, volunteer activities, or other relevant engagements.

Clearance Information

In addition to passing MITRE’s employment background check, successful candidates may be submitted for a U.S. Government Security clearance. The requirement for a clearance is determined by the Department of Defense’s adjudicative guidelines, which include U.S. citizenship. Other positions may necessitate vetting for various levels of agency public trust, fitness, suitability, controlled access, and special programs access determinations, consistent with the assigned work program.
• This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of no specific clearance at the time of application, but will require obtaining specific clearance(s) within one year from the date of hire.

Salary Compensation Range And Midpoint

The annual compensation range for this position is $45,500 – $57,000 – $68,500.
